Time and tide wait for no man.

Meaning:No one is so powerful that they can stop the march of time.
Origin:The origin is uncertain, although it's clear that the phrase is ancient and that it predates modern English.
-(The earliest known record is from St. Marher, 1225 -
"And te tide and te time þat tu iboren were, schal beon iblescet.")

There are other fish in the sea.
天涯何處無芳草

It means there are plenty other catches in this world,
and we don’t need to waste time on something which are not worthy at all.

The purpose is to make people be more positive about what they've lost.

This proverb is often used as a consolation for losing a girlfriend or a boyfriend.

  • For example: A boy just broke up with his girlfriend. He couldn't sleep well and burst into tears whenever he listened to love songs.  However, his friend might say "Come on, man! There are other fish in the sea! You will find another one anyway!” "
