Hey,babe ...《Don't Think Twice,It's alright》

之前po的音樂，引起某位朋友的興趣
《Don't think twice it's alright》 的歌詞很美，但我並未深入研究。

我聽的一直都是Peter,Paul&Mary的版本
直到剛剛朋友私訊了些資料，我才恍然大悟。


這首歌由Bob Dylan作詞作曲，獻給的是Suze Rotolo，一位Dylan深愛過的女孩。

《Don’t think twice, it’s all right》這首歌是段很美麗的愛情故事：

Dylan 與 Suze 相識於 1961年4月5日
（Suze 本人的說法不同，這裡暫時以 Clinton Heylin 的資料為準），
當時迪倫替 John Lee Hooker 開場，短暫地在紐約巡迴；7 月 29日，
迪倫到 Riverside Church 為一場廣播演出錄音，Suze全程陪在他旁邊，
這天也是兩人正式交往的開始。


Suze出身於一個左派家庭，父母不但影響了她的政治意識，
也允許她積極地參與政治運動；
所以她從高中起，就是「全國理性核子政策委員會」
（SANE，NationalCommittee for a SANE Nuclear Policy）的成員，
依一般的說法，她的態度也促成了迪倫早年 protest singer 的形象；
與迪倫交往時，他更加入了民權運動的「核心」團體，
CORE（Congress of Racial Equality）。


顯然地，時年不到二十歲的 Suze Rotolo，有自己的理想，
有自己想要達到的目標，他希望自己呈現在公眾前的形象是Suze Rotolo，
那個跟著 CORE 到阿拉巴馬、密西西比等南方各州示威抗議的Suze Rotolo、
跟 Dr. King Jr. 一起呼喊I Have A Dream的 Suze Rotolo，
而不只是迪倫身邊的女人。


1962 年中，Suze 與母親和繼父到義大利的 Perugia短暫住了七個月，
她起初並不想去，但之後卻不後悔這個決定，
因為「我不想再當他吉他上的絃」
（I feltI didin’t want to be a string on his guitar,
because I wasn’t ready to retire. I hadn’t even started out yet.）；


這段期間，迪倫並不掩飾他的失戀，把當時的心情全寫在歌曲裡，
如 Down The Highway裡的「She packed it all up in a suitcase, Lord, she took it away to Italy」
與Don’t Think Twice 裡的「I give her my heart but she wanted my soul」。


1963 年初，Suze 從義大利回到 Greenwich Village，兩人看似復合了，
還在同年二月由 Don Hunstein 拍了與迪倫漫步在 Jones Street 的照片，
但義大利之行只有讓她離開迪倫的決心更加堅定。

1963 年的 Newport Festival，當迪倫要演唱 Don’t Think Twice時，
Joan Baez 是這麼介紹的：「it’s about a love affair that has lasted too long」，
當時也站在台下的 Suze 轉身就走。

而這也許就是 Dylan / Rotolo各自走向人生不同道路的一刻。
